Happy Friday Slim Secrets Readers!
On Friday we always have great ideas for the weekend and usually have a huge “To Do” list, however have you noticed how quickly those two days slip through our fingers, only to wake up on Monday morning having hardly crossed off anything on our list!
The rest of the week then seems like a huge game of “catch up”, trying to finish our tasks from the previous week while adding more items to our list each day! (Don’t worry, I know what it’s like!)
The same can be said for weekend fitness and health. We have grand plans to go for a run on Saturday or attend a new fitness class on Sunday, however tasks always come up and somehow our exercise plans go straight out the window! Friends pop over, family activities run longer than expected and then we find ourselves waking up Monday morning feeling less than healthy after our missed workouts.
So how do we make sure that we reclaim those two wonderful weekend days and fit in some healthy activities? Read my tips below…
Morning Exercise – Try to schedule in your exercise first thing in the morning. Many times we push our workouts back to the afternoon, however after spending all day in the hot sun (or rain) or commuting through traffic, the last thing you want to think about is find the energy for a solid workout.
Combine Friends & Fitness – You’re supposed to meet your friend for coffee over the weekend, why not invite her to your morning exercise class or go for a walk together? That way you can tick off both your exercise and social time and your friend also has the added benefit of getting in an extra workout with you also!
Clutter Free – When your work space or home is a mess, it can be hard to focus on more important tasks. A great way to fix this problem is to spend some time organising on Friday afternoon or evening. It will clear up a lot of time on the weekend to do the things you want to do. When you wake up on Saturday and everything is in its place, it is amazing how much better you feel!
Plan it – After you have finished your organising on Friday, spend 10 minutes planning your weekend. What workouts are you going to do? What healthy meals could you prepare? What other activities are important? By planning your weekend, you will find that there is actually a lot more time than you realised.
Just do it – How many times have you considered getting out for some exercise, however sat down on the couch and ended up watching 3 hours of old “Friends” re-runs! When you get the inkling to workout – just do it! Don’t wait for the “right time” or say to yourself that you will decide after you “do this or that.” Just pop those shoes on and go! The minute you are out of the house your body will thank you for it
