Defence Lake Attack 2010 - Charity Event Proudly Supported By Slim Secrets

In 2009, Australian Defence Force Lake Attack initiative raised $212,000 with almost 3,000 participants. In 2010, families will again be encouraged to enter with all proceeds raised going to charities involving children and families in need.

SLIM SECRETS is proud to be one of the supporters of this year’s event as it has been for the previous 3 years supplying all participants with our healthier snack alternatives.

The Charity Fun Run/Walk is run by Australian Defence Force in partnership with Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation as an annual fundraising event and in 2010 supporting worthy children's causes.   The full entry fee and additional funds raised will be equally distributed to the beneficial charities:

  • The Compassionate Friends Victoria Incorporated (supporting bereaved parents & siblings)
  • Legacy Victoria Kidsafe Victoria
  • Child Accident Prevention Foundation
  • Redkite supporting children with cancer

Defence Lake Attack is an event for everyone. This year's event will be held on the morning of Sunday, 29th August at Albert Park Lake. The 10 Km run starts at 9:00 am, with the 5 Km run and walk starting at 10:00 am.

In addition to the fun run and walk events, there will be lots of children’s activities; food stalls along with a range of interesting displays will keep everyone entertained. These include aerial demonstrations by the RAAF's famous "Roulette" aircraft; fly-pasts by historic aircraft from the RAAF Museum; displays of equipment from the Defence Forces and State emergency services, and live music will be provided by the Royal Australian Navy Band. So it promises to be a fun morning for keen runners and walkers, and for family groups.

Defence Lake Attack is all about having fun for a worthy cause. It does not matter if you are a first timer, a seasoned runner, someone wanting to simply stroll around Albert Park - this event is for EVERYONE. So get your friends, family, colleagues and school mates and join the Defence Force for what promises to be a family fun day. Most of all, you will be supporting a worthwhile community fundraising event while participating in a healthy activity with fun to boot!

To enter you can register online at www.lakeattack.com for the Lake Attack run or walk to be conducted around Albert Park Lake on Sunday 29 August 2010.

All participants will receive a show bag, a participant medal and more. All details at www.lakeattack.com
